Leo Club Meetings
Our Club meets for our business meeting at the Moot Hall in the High Street Maldon (opposite Budgen's) on 1st Tuesday every month at 8-00 pm.
The meeting is Chairmen by the Club President and we hear from both our Club Secretary and Treasure.
Every member that attends has input into how and what we do. We discuss all events for the three main items
1) What social events we wish to attend or carryout. These are held when permissible on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Some Social evenings we go to Madison Heights for 10 pin bowling. Other nights we go to the pictures, in the summer there could be a treasure hunt or just a walk about town. Every member has a voice in what activities we do.
2) Welfare is were we visit senior citizen centres, help clear a site or garden for those not able, take children from a single parent family out for the day. Offering to help where and when needed. The list is endless.
3) Fundraising is carried out to provide items or/and finance projects like Water Wells, special beds and equipment in hospital, Breast Cancer Research and Little Havens Children's Hospice. We have our own stalls like "Where does Teddy live", or "Ball in the Bog" plus Treasure Hunt. These we take to local fetes along side Lions and Lioness Clubs.
We discuss and decide where and what we do or do not do. But it is a democratic vote and we abide by the Clubs decision. Everyone has a vote.
Every year the Leo's of England Scotland Wales and Ireland hold their own Leo Convention. Here new proposals and resolutions are made for the benefit of the organisation and its members. Its an excellent way to meet other Leo's and make new friends. We also have visiting Leo's from overseas and they in turn invite you to their Conventions and Clubs.
